HOLLA @ A BRO....

Not so long ago  a certain media personality gave her two cents as to why there is an increased suicide rate in men. She then went ahead and offered counselling services for any man in need only to couple it up with a ludicrous price tag and that's where social media went HAM with all the opinions.

If a greater percentage of men could afford therapy or counseling we wouldn't have an increase in suicide rate for our gender in the first place. Like it or not, mens' problems begin money or the lack of it. Society has put a lot of unnecessary pressure on the "boychild". They expect him to act in certain ways, to be aggressive with opportunities, to provide for his family or siblings and just to have "enough" money because, well you can't just work out all responsibilities without financial might.

However, tables have turned and it's not as easy for the men in this century. We now have to dump our educational papers and hustle like dropouts. We have to scheme through every opportunity and get conned while at it sometimes. We have to roll over and let the "fairer" sex take the lead. We are in "competition" with people who have it easy... basically the stakes have never been this high, but we move regardless.

Even under all this pressure, men are social creatures, they make Friends easier and tend to have meaningful interactions with each other. We go out to bars, we watch soccer and yell our liquor marinated throats over politics and ideas. Some of us who are abled differently play golf for hours. We meet strangers at the game , form rapports and anticipate the next games. We enjoy our company.

Some of our associations have been groomed for years and have grown into very helpful pillars of support. Some people have come up with Boy clubs and go above and beyond for each other. On the contrary men do have support systems. In as much as we don't talk about it or show emotions,  a real bro will know when you down on your game and will find innovative ways to keep you in check. It's called the Bro code, you stay true to it no matter what.

So to the men out there that haven't been themselves in a while, review your interactions, fortify your friendship circles. Hang in there it's not as bad as it seems.. Today being international mens' day( regardless of the little publicity) reach out to a bro..talk to a bro..be real for a bro... sometimes a bro is all we need.
